Frog Legs guitarist and vocalist Ed Luckenbach died in January 2000 at the age of 51. He is greatly missed by his musician colleagues and fans.
Ed entertained people with his guitar and golden voice since he was a teenager, his musical journey taking him through rock 'n roll, old-time, folk, and country. In 1994 ago I was very fortunate to get to know him at Danny Poullard's home, and by spring of 1995 Ed, Elaine, Marty, David and I were having enough fun playing Cajun music there to start Frog Legs.
While Ed played guitar and sang for Frog Legs, he also in recent years developed his talents on the diatonic accordion, and fronted the popular zydeco band Tete Rouge.
Ed was the real thing, musically, professionally and personally. From the heart. He told me once that when he sings, he feels the vibrations down to the soles of his shoes. That is how deeply we feel his loss.
